Areas of Surgery

Wound Infection

Case number 1 - superficial wounds of the body, even if extensive, can be made to heal by simple skin grafting

Case number 2 - deep wounds even if small, that may otherwise not heal, can be definitively covered using flap procedure of reconstructive surgery.

This can safely be done even in the elderly, as seen in the pictures above.

Case number 3 - severe infections of soft tissue, even if extensive, need to an initial aggressive excision (debridement) to control the problem.

The 2 yr infant seen in the pictures above had infection of the groin area by a 'flesh eating bug' - necrotizing fascitis. Control was achieved only by removal of all dead/contaminated tissue including muscles. The wound was made to heal by using Skin Grafting.

Case number 4 - Bed sores are a very distressing issue for many bed-ridden patients. The deep wound refuses to be controlled by conventional techniques. Fortunately, they can be cleaned by an initial thorough surgery and the wound healed by reconstructive flap surgery.

The patient in the pictures above has a bed sore in the lower back (sacral) area. Flap surgery without use of any skin grafts whatsoever achieved sound healing.
